How to Identify a Beehive

Typically, bees build hives in trees or beneath a structure that allows it to hang. The hives contain hexagonal-shaped combs rendered from wax. This is quite distinct from hornets’ nests, which resemble something akin to paper and are normally grey. Hornets will travel inside the hive, unlike bees.

When we get rid of a hive, we work our hardest to not harm the bees. As pollinators, bees are a crucial part of our ecosystem.

In order to remove bees (or hives), we address the situation in protective clothing and remove the hive away from your home. Sometimes, we will utilize smoke to ease the bees into calmness or soapy water to render them groggy. We then vacuum the sedated bees and relocate them away from your home.

For ground bees (like yellow jackets), and hornets, we can use plastic sheeting to suffocate them. After they are all deceased, we then safely remove the nest.
